Beverly Hills Mercedes-Benz still works on smart cars. They are very expensive and from a report I received, they will no longer guarantee their work. The "good" technicians at Smart Madness move on long ago. Many of their customers went to Boulevard Auto in Sherman Oaks. Sadly, Boulevard Auto's primary technician, Pedro, parted ways with Nelson, the owner. Only other repair location is Mercedes-Benz of West Covina. If you are a So Cal Smartie member, you can receive a 10% discount on parts, even if the service department installs them. Thanks for the input Bob. We tried that route. One has to leave the car there for some unknown period of time for the technicians to get to it. When asked how long the car might be there, the agent said that it could be weeks due to the shortage of qualified Smart Car technicians. The West Covian location is where we purchase the 451 and 453 parts from.Only other repair location is Mercedes-Benz of West Covina. We tried to work with Boris, Rachel and the Madness technicians many years ago. It did not work out well at all. One of Madness' best technicians left to work at Pep Boys in Burbank. That is why we sought out another service center. Again, this is also why other Smart Car owners took their vehicles to Boulevard Auto instead of Madness. But Boulevard workmanship, sadly, has also declined.Madness autoworks, signal hill California is you best bet for smart car service….

Sounds like you need to take it to a A/C shop since the freon has to be drained and refilled. I am pretty sure if you go to one that services German car's they would not find it daunting.I got a very high quote from them regarding the radiator fan motor replacement.
