MB Star computer

A few months back I bought a new Chinese knockoff MB Star C5. I hooked it up to Max and did a quick scan for error codes on the ECU, it seemed to work fine. Now just in the past couple of weeks I got one of my friends Mercedes Benz S320 with a bundle of issues going on with the car. So I hook up my C5 multiplexer to it with the proper round cable under the hood and then boot the laptop. The multiplexer and laptop are supposed to communicate through WiFi but it doesn't want to do that. So I checked network setting on the laptop and all seemed to be in order. So I just got out the Cat 5 cable and connected them both together for a link, but they still will not connect and communicate with each other. It came with no instructions. I had issues with the wrong battery pack being sent with it and it still has issues. Does anybody have one of these and encountered the same problem? DCO

Does it still work with your smart? Check, because for some reason I thought you aren't supposed to install batteries...

There is a serious/hard core site called MHH Auto. Might be worth a shot to dig around or ask there. I'm not there, still don't have a star machine, but worth a shot:

Try connecting things in different order. For example, connect mux to car first, then connect computer to mux. Or connect computer to mux first then to the car. Just try the different orders possible and see if one works. Include turning on the computer at different times of the sequence also...

If you verify it is still working with the smart either the 38 pin connection is defective or possibly not connecting it properly. (I don't have experience with this connector). It is a good idea to connect a strong battery charger to the jump points or battery in the vehicle and turning Ig-ON but engine off. (But you probably already know that)...

So the mux doesn't work in either the smart nor the S320?

Hi guys-- So my Dell Laptop + C3 Multiplexer + Cables just arrived from China--trying to run codes on my 97 W140. When I ran Xentry, it kicked open HHTWIN (ugh) and after I HHTWIN opened, it gave me an error message "Incorrect Vehicle Adapter Cable" This was with the multiplexer connected...
