Does anybody know if there is available a "mini spare tire/ wheel combo for the 453? I'm really not comfortable driving without a proper spare but I'm quite aware of space constraints in vehicle. Really appreciate any help.
The chances of a flat are low , it's not worth the carry of an extra tire in a vehicle with such low storage . Your best logical alternative is to get a small plug kit , and utilize the oem pressure kit stowed in the car . With the low pressure warning system , a slow leak will give you an alert , and plenty of time to remedy either on the road or at a service station . The chances are low for a catastrophic blowout . Risk assement wins .Does anybody know if there is available a "mini spare tire/ wheel combo for the 453? When packing our 451 for a "road trip" I sometimes question the potential impact of sharing the interior with a loose spare tire in an accident?Use roadside assistance. It's standard with every 453, and therefore cleaner, safer, and cheaper than other flat tire fix-it methods.
The OP, has a 453. Aren’t the front and rear wheels, on a 453 the same size? Most people use a front wheel/tire as a spare since it can be mounted on front or rear wheel.![]()
FYI regarding the question about bolt pattern size. According to the web site below, the size for a 453 is 100mm. What I do not know is if that measurement is through the wheel center (I would assume so) or shortest distance from bolt to bolt.

If your driving a 451/453 smart car. Your going to need a trailer hitch receiver first. There are a variety of outside spare tire carries on the market. You can take fold down bike rack carrier. And convert it to a tire carrier too. Weld on a plate. Your going to have to relocate your license plate. Can anyone direct me to a supplier of the hitch/ spare tire mount? I like that idea better than cramming a loose tire between the seat and firewall... Does this mount swing away to allow access to the hatch?
