Missing piece

My wife and I just added to our family, with the purchase of a used 2013 Smart Fortwo Passion. It was an extremely good deal, with the car only having about 43K miles on it. My wife just noticed a piece has gone missing. The picture shows the cover for the gear shift. The hole to the top right should have a piece of plastic in it. Since I wasn't paying attention to it, I can't describe what, if any, markings are on it.

I'm not even sure what to tell the parts people it is that I am looking for, although I can always just stop by the Mercedes dealer, show them the picture, and see if they can figure it out.

But any help from the community would be greatly appreciated. I realize I will probably have to purchase the whole cover, not just the little piece that fell out.

Thank you.

Unless something changed for 2013, that should be a coin holder piece with some slots in it. :)

Thank you sir! If I could ask one more question. What is the whole piece of trim called that the coin holder snaps into? I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to replace the whole thing.

Thanks again.

Don’t know for certain but you may not need anything else but the coin holder unless something was broken.

I don’t know, your going to have to go to a smart dealership. Have them look up the coin holder part number. This MB parts site, doesn’t list it.

I have an extra one you can have. They just snap in from behind. There is a likelihood that someone pushed coins into the slots extra hard and the little coin holder just pushed through and is still inside there, a plus is you might find the coins too!

A European piece I don't have, and it's only $20  I don't need it, but I inexplicably want it.

What an interesting part to make a replacement for - they already had the symmetrical 3-piece unit so they specifically didn't need to make this one. Odd.

Doug Demuro would somehow enjoy this.
