It just cranks and cranks, and just floods. Maybe after a great while with many pauses it will start. Checked everything and it appears OK and when the car does start it's great for the rest of the day. It actually runs perfect under any conditions. Other morning I started to play with the gas cap taking it off and on (3 clicks after tightened like it indicates) and the car starts. Can I have a bad gas cap? If so, can I get a gas cap any where or does it have to be Smart/MB?
Special thanks for quick responses and as always thanks.

Sounds like the vent on the cap is blocked. Try starting it with the cap off. If the breather vent within the cap gets blocked this will create a vacuum within the fuel line & stop the passage of fuel.

Do you have a G&K car? If so, the charcoal canister could be flooded with fuel. You will need the G&K modifiacation to fix the problem. To check pull off the hose going to the canister and see if fuel comes out.
