Please help. My electric 2019 smart car has 3,000 miles on it and I had to send it to the dealer because of a bunch of error codes due to electric and battery issues. I paid $1000 to replace the battery and reset the codes and just got it back and steady having the same problems. They told me if this were to happen again I am responsible for paying $13,000 to replace the entire electric system because I didn’t maintain the car yearly. I honestly didn’t know I needed to bring it in when it had such low miles on it. Does this seem accurate?

Your car is still covered by the original factory warranty. The dealership is on the hook to repair the car under warranty. Try talking to the dealership manager but you may need a lawyer. :)

Even if it didn't have it the yearly maintenance? Or is that what the lawyer is for?

Yeah the service department said that because the maintenance light was on it’s not covered at all. Do you think an attorney can help with this?

I doubt a lawyer, is going to help. It will cost you a small fortune to hire one. It will come out, saying you didn’t properly maintain the car. What battery cost you $1,000?

Your car is still under it’s factory warranty. The maintenance light isn’t under warranty. It’s the owners responsibility, to take care of that Service. Making sure proper basic maintenance is performed on the vehicle. What type of maintenance, was call the pond, out of the owners manual. At 3k miles, Curious?

The question is did you have the annual service for the car performed, not whether the light is on. Did the car come with a full set of manuals - owners, maintenance and warranty? Did you perform the service yourself? If the annual service was not done at all, then you are probably SOL. Most car owners avoid reading the manuals... :)
