Hi all,

Just joined the forum and just yesterday purchased a 2015 Pure with 14k miles on it with several factory options ... rear wiper, nav system, electric windows, leather (fake) seats, heated seats. Will be getting some mag wheels at some time...

Now though, my question is:

When we went out this morning and started the car... we had a loud whining sound from the back of the car for 10 - 20 seconds and then is stopped. Later after we stopped and got in and started it again, no whining.

Does anybody know what the whining sound might be? And why?

If you search the forum, you will likely see other people asking the same question and see that people say it is the secondary air injection pump. I never noticed it on mine until after getting some extensive engine work and asked the same question the first time I heard the noise.
