Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum, and wanted to do as much research as I could before buying a smart car. Currently I drive a Jeep Wrangler, and definitely not getting rid of my Jeep! Just looking for a second car for commuting to a potential job in the next few months.
Any assistance anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Really looking for answers on driving an ED, 2014 or 2015 for longer than the battery will take me. Will it revert to running on gas after the battery charge is depleted? Thanks again in advance.

The ED is only electric. That means you have to rely on electric range only. It may not be the car for you.

Answer to your question.
The smart ED is a pure electric drive not a hybrid, so no gas engine.
You have around 68 miles of use give or take a few and that's it, you have to plug it in.
