Ok, I'm going to put new plugs in my smart.
What, realistically can I expect? She runs fine as is (very fine actually)
but I don't know when they were last changed. Going on the idea that
new can't hurt and if I change 'em out ok, will I notice any difference?
Better gas mileage, smoother running, ect.? This if it proves true that the plugs have a LOT of mileage or are burned or similar?
Thanks in advance.

I waited on the first set until I got an engine code saying I had a miss, then installed plugs. My MPG actually got worse for a bit, then got much better than before changing the plugs. I believe it was right around 34-35K miles. Now at 112K, I am needing plugs again.

Not really. Unless your old plugs were worn out or bad, changing them out for new ones will make little difference.

Might get ever so slightly smoother running or maybe a tidbit more mileage, but generally, unless they were bad, new ones won't change much.

Jimvw's plugs fall into that "worn out/bad" category.
