Greetings Folks!
Loooong time Smart lover & first time potential buyer!
I need help re: price range on an '08 451 with modifications (also shopping awesome car2go deals in my area).
I found one today that would be great to use in my business, but am fencing due to dealer price.

I'm not sure of all the mods included as the lot was closed today & had ltd access to the car. But from external appearance it does have ground kit, tail light covers, tint, custom wheels & dual tip center exhaust.
I could see through the tint that the interior is cloth.

Lot is asking 10k.
This Pure is an '08 with just over 23k miles. Edmunds dealer retail of $4200 (rounded up) & Kbb dealer retail range of $4800-$6400 (rounded up).

These quotes are for a standard model of course, but just don't know if the mods mentioned justify the pricing?

Ps: if it helps any, I'd be paying in cash up front, so maybe room to negotiate?

Thanks so much for the help!?

My personal opinion is that the kit is going to slow the car down if these are strictly visual effects. The aerodynamic drag that kit will create will make that car very slow, and it will hurt your fuel economy.
Thank you so much for the insight. Visuals are a part of the equation for me as the main purpose for this car is marketing my business. This would be a day runner in town, so aerodynamic drag isn't a big factor.

Looks nice, but in the end it is still a 2008 pure. with being able to buy a 2015 pure for about $6k, with a warranty, they may have a hard time selling it.
True & Thank You. I'm going tomorrow just to see what the song & dance may be. Whatever I purchase, I am planning to mod. So, if I found something close to the least amount of work to put in, it made me wonder what would be a fair ask?

If you are looking at some type of loan, they won't add much for modifications or extra wheels so that would be whatever you feel that is worth to you. Adding body kits or wheels rarely increase the loan value on a car, and the going rate on a 2008 smart is quite low since the used var market is flooded with all the car2go and dealer cars right now.

No. No loan paying in cash up front (hence the end of my orig post) & Thank You. :) This is a great forum & I appreciate the insight!

$10K feels very high for that car even with fairly low milage. Even with a turbo kit that feels high but would be interested to find out what if any engine mods were done. I like the look of it and colour but if you asked me if this was a good deal I don't think so.... granted if this is going to be a write down for advertising perhaps it's worth it since it is rather unique.

I can see wheels, exhaust, skirts and paint (if done right) eating up $6k really quickly with the wild card being motor mods (no not trying to talk you into it just thinking out loud)

For perspective I picked up my 2010 Brabus cabrio in Jan for $4700 USD (converted from CDN) but with about double the mileage. It was immaculate so even though old and higher mileage I pulled the trigger.

Thank You Thank You Thank You! This was most helpful @Niteshooter & I'm SUPER appreciative for your thoughtfulness!
Your smart is sahweet & all your points are exactly what were rolling around in my noggin'. I just didn't have a ball park idea of what mods (even if just visuals) would be valued around.
I did know if I was looking at a base model, that price would be insane, considering I can score a fantastic deal on a newer less mile smart-even if it were more basic.

Again...Thank You (& I'm def going to investigate the engine) -my first ever test drive some yrs ago was on a full mod & I should've snapped it up, it's what gave me the taste for smart!?

That's a hell of a buy in my opinion, the Brabus....

$10k? Were any illicit substances ingested during the pricing of this vehicle?

For that price it had better have at least $6k cash in the glove box. The car is worth about $2k without the mods in my opinion. Assuming it runs.

There is no gain, or resale on mods. That's just a loss. You can buy a stripped Pure that year, for $4-6k. Even cheaper. If you bought all those body kits, exhaust, tires wheels, etc. from Maddness. There probably $4k worth of mods there. Aerodynamic. Thats funny. smart cars aren't really that. That car may handle better, with it wider stance. Is this vehicle on a used car lot? Offer them book price, retail. They probably, gave the last owner used car cost. Which was maybe $2.5k. You couldn't build a car like that. That vehicle is all about looks. Nice looking smart car.
Not worth $10k.

I liked the car as soon as I saw it. Its stunning. Now that I look at I t again I like it even more. Probably much room to negotiate, and I wouldn't pay 10k, but with that mileage it's basically still new. Everything should probably be still shiny in the engine bay.

I don't agree that its worth only 2k without the mods we can see, let alone the mods we don't know about.

I would like to have it!

Please make sure that it is an original authentic Lorinser kit, and not a knockoff fiberglass imitation that will eventually break and rip apart on you when you least expect it. The rear kit needs finishing, and I see missing center caps on the Lorinser wheels (or are the center caps blacked out so I can't see them in the picture?).

@TheFadingTheory @Niteshooter by any chance are you guys (or anyone else) familiar with this maker (re: wheels & audio) I attached below (or their potential value)?

I was able to swing over today & check it out in person.
There's a hideable touch screen alpine with siriusxm installed along with Bluetooth Motorola hands free.
So far it drives sweet (steering is a little tight-due to low profiles & suspension maybe?), doesn't seem to have any engine mods except intake valve for the exhaust.
So far I'm now looking at $6250 cash out the door incl tax tags title. I'm still working my magic though bc they allege paying $5500.

Thanks folks!
