Good evening,

This Smartie is driving me crazy!!! When I am in park there is a rattling noise that can be heard. I took it to the dealership where I bought it, NOT a Smart Car dealer and ended up paying $64.00 to be told .. "we think it is in the transmission and we can't do anything. Take it to a Smart Dealer". When I start moving there is no noise and it drives just fine. Any ideas?

It would be helpful if you would elaborate a little more on where the rattle is coming from. If it is a sheet metal rattle, check the heat shield around the exhaust system as well as the muffler and flex pipe. I would also inspect the engine mounts.

I was reading other posts from ppl who have had the same issue. One guy described it as nuts and bolts in a coffee can!! That really is what it sounds like.

..well...you should go to a smart car gathering..you'll go nuts listening to all the bolts and nuts in the coffee cans...
