Hi,

Is anyone else having problems with smart highline stereo when making phone calls? The person on the other end can't hear me due to high noise level. This only happens while driving at high speed (freeway), and works fine in city driving. I think the microphone is built into the stereo, so there is probably no way to re-position it.

Thanks!

Is there a wind and noise cancellation on-off button?
In the radio's specs-- is this noise cancellation feature even mentioned?
Noise cancellation is a pretty much standard thing these days.
It doesn't make sense.
Perhaps the smart is a bit noisier so the cancellation feature can't keep up.

Try moving your head 12 inches to the right

I just got my 2013 Passion with Highline radio, microphone in the bottom right corner. Also the first hands free Bluetooth I've had.

After several Bluetooth conversations, everyone complained my voice was jumbled, metallic or distant. I tried adjusting dynamic noise cancellation DNC, volume controls, fan off, windows up, all to no avail.

Am I correct to summarize that DNC should affect the speaker output only AND has no affect on microphone pickup quality???

I read a lengthy thread where an after market bluetooth microphone location is critical and this coincides with what I discovered.

When I leaned my head to the passenger seat to be directly perpendicular to the microphone, the other end observed my voice quality was excellent. Lean back in front of the steering wheel and my voice quality went back to marginal...lean back to the passenger side and my voice was back to excellent. As least I know what the problem is now, solutions can be sought.

I need an audio / Highline radio specialist to advise

Solutions I conjured up:

A.) mounting a tiny curved piece of plastic next to the microphone to redirect sound into the microphone. What shape, size I am not sure.

B.) install an aftermarket microphone middle of the visor as the other thread suggested AND disable the Highline radio installed microphone. Possible?

Interesting. I have a 2013 with the highline radio and callers have commented to me that they can hear me very well on the other end, even at highway speeds and/or with the A/C blasting. As far as I know, there isn't any way to adjust the microphone. However, smart does sell an external microphone that hooks up to the highline radio. I believe the mic gets installed in the overhead console next to the dome light.

EDIT: Here are the part #'s for the external Bluetooth microphone:

Microphone - A451 820 07 35
Receptacle Housing - A202 545 37 28
Contacts - A005 545 18 26

I have the installation info in PDF format, if you're interested.

external Bluetooth microphone

finally Ive reached a point...got to fix this.

I hypothesize the Bosch Highline radio microphone positioned on the radio right corner face works for Euro drivers who have the right side steering wheel.

The Smart Car dealer is having difficulties finding those part #'s . Might they be a kit or another vendors part #'s? Where did you purchase?

yes!! would appreciate the PDF
