Whenever I raise my cabrio top, it makes a really loud "CLICK" sound when it becomes vertical. Everything seems to work, nothing is leaking (we've had enough rain I'm sure that I would have noticed), it's just very noisy. I've tried spraying some lubricant on the joints, but that makes no difference.
So, my question is where is this noise coming from, is it an indication that something worse is going to happen, and can I fix it? Simple, right?

TIA

Normal operation, nothing to worry about.

Putting up the top, my top 'stops' (with a loud clunk) when it becomes vertical and takes a second push of the button to move forward.

That is because it now switches from raise to slide. Note that car can be run in that position.

This is not normal. As the tops shrink with time, ultimately the side rails get out of alignment with the slides at the intersection with the rails. The loud click, pop, or clunk is the result of a collision of out of alignment parts. Here is an alignment video that I found to be very helpful.

Totally agree with "phillysmart" my 08 and my current 09 cabriolet both do the same, stops with a clunk as it latches on to the rails and takes a second push of the button to move forward.

I can record a video of the sequence, but I don't have a way to post it.

Good Luck
