I have a 2009 Passion that has a noisy radio whether the radio is on or off. Even when the car switch is turned off. I suspect a noisy amplifier stage in the left channel. Apparently power is supplied to the radio at all times.
I took out the fuse to stop the noise.
Also how to remove and replace the radio.
Thanks for your help.

Hello Doug,
Check out my post #18 in the following link

http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/fo...ivers-seat-flood-car-update-54538/index2.html

I posted a picture of how to unplug the subwoofer without removing or unbolting the drivers seat.

Good luck.

I do not have a sub woofer. The noise is coming from the drivers side speaker. It is similar to corn popping, static etc. Not constant just very brief break in the noise.

Where do I find the information on how to remove and replace the radio?

Doug please take a picture of the front of your radio and post.
Can help depending on the model of radio.

Thx. JL

Pry out the switch bank in the center with a panel tool. There is a torx screw underneath in the center.

Push down carefully on the edge and carefully pry surround at top on both left and right sides.

You should have access to the mounting screws of the radio....

(I hope).

The radio is a smart 9 according to my instruction booklet. Tried loading picture but was told picture too large.
Are replacement radios available? Since I pulled the fuse I lost my interior light. Inconvenient.

Doug,
A picture would sure help.
Does your radio have any silver trim on it? Hmmmm
The model 9 radio was standard on the Pure. Model 10 was standard on the Passion which you say you have.

In 2009, the radio 9 was standard across the board, even on the Brabus. The radio 10 was an option, but I can't remember the cost of it.

Doug,
Thanks for the pictures. They helped
I'm glad you liked the removal video, pretty straightforward and simple. Good luck with your replacement radio. You have my phone number and email if you need more info.

Take care
