While i was driving my 2005 smart fortwo today (0.8L diesel), I would lose all power while switching down or up a gear. I got it a parking lot nearby where it was safe and tried putting into first or reverse to get home. The car just started jolting if it wasn't in neutral, like the clutch wasn't able to catch. The computer gave me the code 0742 (if i remember correctly). Any help will be gladly appreciated

I do not think I have ever seen that one before.

That code does not apply to a smart. It references a epicyclic or planetary gear type automatic transmission with a torque converter. Try a different scan tool.
