Hello all,

The Smart for Two does not seem to be eligible to ride in Florida's HOV lane or obtain a HOV decal.

In some states they allow motorcycles becaue they get good mileage and can only carry 2. We just have a roof. Let the fun begin
Depends on your state/local laws.

In Virginia the DOT lists the following

High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lanes

SmartCars are not hybrids, so they do not qualify for clean fuel plates.

I have a two-seater vehicle. Can I use the HOV-3 lanes?
No. To use the HOV-3 lanes, you must have three people in your vehicle.
From what I understand, they are not eligible in any state.
If anyone discovers that the smart is HOV eligible in Texas, PLEASE post!

It is with two people.

DUHHHHHH...... :) Yes, I know! I was thinking more in the line of ONE person!!
LMAO
I am unaware of any HOV lanes in South Carolina, but I can drive the HOV 2+ lanes (with a passenger) in North Carolina. Apparently, the HOV lanes in Denver are for sale - you can either carry enough people, or buy a permit that allows you to use the right-hand lane of the HOV lanes.
