I know there has been a lot of threads on weird gas gauge readings and this is yet another one. BUT my issue seems to be the opposite of what I’ve read. So I filled my tank up 2 weeks ago, I’m at 100 miles on this tank yet my gas gauge hasn’t moved at all. It still shows I have a full tank of gas! How can this be? Since owning the car this has been my third fill up (The gas mileage on this car is awesome!! 😃) and the other 2 times my gauge moved like normal hence why I’m a little confused this time around. I opened the gas cap and redid it just incase that would have done something but nope no change. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Any suggestions, tips orrrr is it broken? 🤦🏻‍♀️🤔

Go another 12 miles and it will tip off one bar...

Gas mileage also depends on the terrain where you live and your driving style. It is possible to see 100 miles before first bar drops.

There’s nothing wrong with your car. Just enjoy driving the car. There is no rhyme or reason, of the smart cars fuel gauge. The bars really don’t seem to mean anything about fuel units.

I noticed, it mattered what gas station I was at. You filled up the tank. It didn’t always register full bars. Crazy.

I too, would drive about a 100 miles, the bars would drop one notch.

Thanks guys! I was getting worried that something was wrong with the gauge. I guess we’ll see when it drops! I just thought it was odd that it hadn’t dropped so far when it usually would have aready. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you run out of gas and it's still showing full then you do have a problem....

Just filled up my car yesterday. Whether a 451 or 453, I've learned from this forum to be patient whence filling up the buggy. Let it pop (automatic shut off) count to at least 10. Let it pop again and viola the last burp up the gullet.

I got 200 miles from my last half tank. This one was 125. It’s nothing close to accurate unless it’s empty or full. Anything in between the two and you never really know.

For some reason when I fill up with non-ethanol gas, especially from a station based out of Wisconsin; I get 40 more miles to the tank. If I use British gas or some cheap stuff I don't get the same.

The reason is most gas is 'cut' with 10% or more ethanol. So you get 10% more mileage when you use 100% gas (non-ethanol, E0).

So my gauge finally went down at 119 miles. That’s the longest it’s gone before it even moving! I guess I didn’t drive as much with this tank. Whew it actually scared me since I’m dealing with a squeek and then the gas gauge! Guess now I need to replace the rear brakes and hopefully that’ll be that!! 😊

Cool thing about those rear brakes is they are a Liliputian version of regular drum brake. O Reilly's carries a Mercedes equivalent at 1\7th the price!
