Had to take oil pan off because i twisted a bolt off and am trying to remove it. The oil pan has now been off twice. Should I reuse these bolts or get new ones? Can I just buy the size at hardware store or are they somehow special bolts that i should get from Smart? Thanks

oh, yes i did use a torque wrench
but that doesn't make me any less of an idiot :(

You can use a metric bolt from a place like Lowes. Be sure to torque it to spec. Aluminum engine blocks with steel bolts scare me to death. It's so easy to strip the threads out of the block. When I torqued my head I bought new head bolts. They initially torqued to 25 newton meters which was like 18 foot pound IIRC. Then you had to tighten in 2 stages of turning the head bolt 90 degrees in sequence and then 90 more degrees. It felt like I was stripping the threads right out of the block. It turned hard at first and then got easier and it was just the head bolts stretching as they were supposed to do.
