Whatever your opinions are on Google Glass, you’ve probably never had the opportunity to pick one up for yourself. The Explorer Program has been closed to the public ever since its inception, but according to The Verge, that might change later this month. A leaked document reveals that Google is considering opening up sales to the public, “where any U.S. resident would be able to purchase Glass (through google.com/glass) and join the Explorer Program.”

The document states that the announcement will take place at 6am PDT on April 15th, and the offer would be available for “about a day.” Anyone in America could plunk down $1,500 for Glass on that day, receiving a free pair of prescription frames or sunglass shades in the process.

The whole "limited slots" thing is a gimmick. They'll let anyone into the Explorer Program because very few people are in it to begin with.

As a giggle I applied for it, and within an hour I had my invitation to buy Glass for $1,500...
