I'm new to the Smartcar, having had mine for three days (24k, second owner), and this morning the Passenger Airbag Deactivation light came on. Funny thing is, if I move over and sit in the passenger seat it turns off. Get out of the passenger seat and it turns back on again. Is this a system malfunction or a real problem?

It's what the system is supposed to do, It turns the passenger airbag off when it doesn't detect a weight in the passenger seat.

Are you referring to the amber light on the overhead? If so, it's normal. The red light in the speedo cluster is another thing! Not so good.

The overhead amber one says airbag disabled I believe. Useful when children are in the seat.

Yes, it's just the amber light in the overhead, not the read SRS light in the instrument cluster. I understand it now, but initially it seemed as though such a visible warning should have meant trouble.
