Wife reported that the passenger side w/s wiper on her 2009 Cabriolet quit working this weekend. (We live in the Great Pacific Northwet so that's a problem). When I checked it out, I found that the nut holding the wiper arm to the actuator was loose. No problem, I thought. The right socket and some Loctite and problem solved.

Not so fast. There is not enough clearance to fit a tool in there. (Even tried to get to the nut using needle nose pliers with minimal success.)

Do I really need to pull off the plastic panel covering this underlying assembly just to tighten a nut? Probably.

Anyone got an easier / less time-consuming fix?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

No luck with removing the paneling

After failing in my attempts,I took the car to a local import car repair place thinking I'd be there for a couple of hours while they did their thing. Front office guy comes out to take a look at it. Goes into the shop and comes out with a ratchet, a u-joint coupling with the appropriate socket. In less than 5 minutes I was on my way with no charge.

I just ordered a set of u-joint couplers.

Regards,

Dan
