TMZ is reporting that Paul Walker from the "Fast and Furious" movies died in a car crash today in Santa Clarita, Ca. He was in town for a car show to raise money for help in the Philippines and was giving friends rides in his new Porsche. On one of those rides he crashed into either a tree or pole and the car burst into flames. Walker and a passenger were both killed in the crash.

For that kind of damage, the bonehead must have been going at a ridiculous speed. The worst thing about it is that he took someone else's life too.

The latest report I have read says that Paul Walker was a passenger in the 2005 Porsche GT. It was driven by his friend and business partner in Always Evolving Engineering, a high performance car speciality shop.

From some of the pics... may have been some kind of pedal to metal parking lot maneuver gone wrong...
Loved the movies and was waiting for # 7 to come out... :(

Google the street, it's a commercial area. Not some place to be going that fast. Should have taken the car on the 5 and blasted up to the next exit and back.

Latest reports say he was indeed just the passenger and not the driver. No less saddening though.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Walker.

Living The Dream... R.I.P.

What brand of car was it that Failed...? BOOM
Porsche, but it's very likely not the cars fault. These guys drive very high-powered versions of quite a number of cars, but feces happens, and when you are driving on the edge in a place with no safety bariors etc. it can and often is a deadly combo!

It is worthwhile to mention that the driver was an amateur racer who had come up thru the ranks. This was no nincompoop sitting on a rear-traction V10 for the first time.

The fatal mistake is probably to have run in an area with trees and with no protection barriers, for, if anything went wrong (and it did go wrong), trees are very unforgiving.

Amateur racer or not, this was stupidity at the highest level. The fact that he has driven similar cars on a track makes this stupidity even less excusable.
