I was wondering if anyone found a portable gas/propane generator for their Smart ED to charge it up during picnics or emergencies. I was thinking of using the 12v battery to power some music devices at picnics. I am hoping someone has done this and knows what works.

Anyone have any idea how much power the 12v battery can supply while the 440v traction battery can still keep it charged up?
In my Leaf I could draw 1500 watts from the 12v battery without a voltage drop.

1500 Watts is ~125 amps at 12V. I’d expect a drop at that load level.

In any event, the 12V battery is charged from the traction pack only when the car is “on”, so you want to periodically or continuously leave the car on to avoid drawing down the 12V battery. If you do draw it down too far, the car won’t start without a jump.
