Possible Gear Box Issues

Hi Guys, I have a 2011 Smart Car For Two and have a mechanical issue:(. When taking off in 1st or Automatic gear and reverse it seems to jump. However, once going the semi automatic is very smooth through the gears.......any suggestion what it could be?
