We put about half the 'new' panels on this afternoon. We have the doors and side struts to go, which means getting the mirrors back on. My avatar shows the new color scheme.

A silver grille came with the replacement panels, but we agreed that black looked better so I spent most of the time refurbing the pieces that were with the original blue body. My hands are killing me.

On the hood, you can see where the Cars 2 Go decal was. My brother thinks it will eventually go/wear away. Opinions?

The 'electric drive' on the back panel is glued on apparently, not attached with screws. As amusing as filling up at the gas station would be with that on the car, I'm wondering if there's a way to remove it. If it had been screwed on, I (read: my brother) would have filled the holes with something and covered the space with my "You just got passed by a 3 cylinder" decal. Any ideas on removing it without causing damage?

Also, the replacement gas cap tether I bought is too tight to let the cap spin when you turn it. We tried silicone; next is graphite powder. I couldn't find an OEM, accordion-type replacement tether. Very irritating.

That's today's report.

On the "Electric Drive" badge on the rear, try a heat gun or your hair dryer. Start on a low heat setting and increase heat as needed. It should soften the factory glue so you can remove it. You may have to clean any residue with "Goo Gone". Good luck. Use dental floss or thin fishing line to lift the letters from the car.

Thank you! (And you just reminded me I have to buy my mother a hair dryer, so double Thank you!)
Post some photo’s, of your progress please.
Next time I go over there, I'll take some pics. My brother still works full time, so work on the car takes place at night and on the weekends.

A question has come up regarding the area at the back of the roof where it transitions to the plastic piece that has the upper brake light (don't know if I'm describing that correctly).

My brother is happy with a half-inch gap between the roof and that piece. I can't believe there was always a gap that large and I didn't notice it.

I've looked for top-down photos of the car to see if I was just that oblivious, and haven't been able to find any. Anybody care to share a pic or two?

Thought I had thanked you for this--apparently not. So, thank you.

My brother has cheated and worked on the car in bits and pieces when I haven't been around, so progress has been greater than I expected. Here are today's pics.

He has some sanding to do on the insides of the wheels because of how thick the paint and clear coat are, otherwise they won't fit back on. And of course I've come up with something else to do: paint the paws on my license plate frame copper.
