Friday I was t-boned at a busy intersection. I was able to exit the car by myself with a thoracic sprain and on two feet. She only had 49,364 Miles on her too! 😭
Without this baby’s roll-cage and door impact bar, I would’ve been seriously hurt. I’m sad to lose her, but she was a great little speedster..

You can see how the wheels, and tridion safety structure handle the side impact. What was the speed of the other car? Do you know?

I know I was going approximately 30-35. The officer at the scene said it looked like the other driver was going approximately 20-30.

I used to get people at intersections and gas stations asking me about my ‘Death-trap Golf-cart’ and if I felt safe. My reply was always “definitely!” I would explain the roll cage concept, the side impact beams and the million airbags.
Well, when we collided, my door panel, front flap, and about 10 pieces of plastic and foam fell off or were torn from my vehicle. The Hyundai Elantra he was driving had an entirely collapsed front end, and Pieces of that poor car we’re strewn all over the road and crash-site.
One of the only things I’m truly upset about is that my prescription safety glasses were blown apart. LOL.

The Geico people took possession, but gave me enough to pay off the balance of the loan, and then some!
I was very lucky.

Techhans if you do buy it back I would like to get it for the drivetrain for a project I’m wanting to do.
That’s provided you can as it looks pretty beat up.
The main thing is you was able to walk away from it.

Hello My Fellow SmartCar Owner/Member Of This Forum,
I Really Do Very Much Understand Exactly How You Feel. My Name Is Terrence, I Live In The Beuterful State Of California City Of San Diego. I Have Never Owned A Car In My Life Always Have Been Driving Motor Scooter's From I50cc To The 650cc's Scooter's. But At This Time In My Life "I Am Now In My 50's" And By The End Of 2020 I Have Decided To Go Out & Purchase My Very First Automobile, I Am Very Sure That Everyone Will Surely Understand What I Am Feeling Now. I Mean Think About It, Remember It Your Very First Car. Except For Me I Was Experiencing This For The Very First Time In My 50'S. So I Sat Down Made My Self Nice Cup Of Coffee Started Thinking. What Should I Do! My First Car. I Have Been Seeing These Car's A Lot Here In San Diego & Have Alway Thought To Myself "They Are So Adorable, Very Small But Adorable" I Then Started Looking On The Internet For All The Information That I Could Find About The Vehicle's. Every Time I See Anyone Who Looks Friendly Driving One, I Would Stop & Ask Them What Do You Think About This Vehicle! How Do You Like It, Do You Hve Any Regrat For Buying It! "Many Of Them Are Friendly" I Never Heard Anything Bad About The Car. I Then Say To Myself, This Is It The Model Car That I Will Purchase. Now I Am Not So Very Young My Friends Like To Remind Me, & Yes I Do Agree. Also Not So Much Money Saved Up, But I Started My Search Anyway For The SmartCar. I Wanted To Find & Purchase 2016 Year, Gas Model With Atomic Transmission & Low Miles. This Model Year With Low Miles & Good Condition Would Not Be For Sale At Low Price Anywhere You Would Think, But I Did Have Some Good Luck.. Please Stand By For The Upcoming Conclusion On What Happened..

That’s good. You really don’t want to deal with buying back a totaled vehicle. Selling off parts. Now you can venture into buying another car. You need a car to drive. Ther are lots of used smart cars on the market out there.

check out Cars.com

Good Luck, on you finding another ride.

Ah ok I was hoping you could’ve bought it back as I would’ve got it for the drivetrain and modules but oh well.
Lots of salvage power trains on eBay to buy.

If he bought that totaled car, back. It wouldn’t been any good to him toward a new car. he would be stuck with a gutted carcus. You should always take the insurance settlement at a fair price.
