I have the rain sensor on my 2016 Passion. According to the manual, there's supposed to be an "Auto" setting on the stalk to activate the feature, but I don't have that; just markings for intermittent, 1 & 2. Any thoughts?

On my 451 auto for the wipers is one click down from the "OFF" position. Owners manual should cover it.

I am speaking for the 451. If you have the rain sensor, all the way down on the lever activates the rain sensor. If you don't have the rain sensor, then all the way down is intermittent for the wipers. It is not marked at all on the unit, just mentioned in the manual.

If you have the headlight/rain sensor, when the wiper stalk is placed in the intermittent position, the wipers will come on automatically. That is one detent down on the wiper stalk. Push the stalk down to intermittent and then inward and that will activate the rear wiper which will also wipe intermittently.
For auto lights, place the headlight stalk in the "Auto" position.
I turn my auto wipers off as that tends to increase the parasitic drain on the battery, since I do not drive my smart equipped with this feature everyday.

Thanks, but that just seems to defeat the concept. I can set the wipers to intermittent without a sensor, so what's the benefit. Also, I've noticed that when set to intermittent, the wipers keep going even after the car is turned off

Rain Sensor was on 2016/17 Primes not passion (unless that passion was special-ordered with one from the factory). Looking at the windshield it might appear that passions have it, but check the window sticker to be sure. If ita a 2016 passion then rain sensor is a separate line item (also it would need to be paired with fog lights)
