Rear deck spoiler

I have been looking at Volkswagen Beetles rear deck spoiler. I believe I want that type of spoiler location on my 451 Smart. I love the photo shop pics I've done on my Smart. It would be just about where Smart lettering is on the rear hatch under the glass. Almost a mini Porsche wail tail. If it's not windy I will mock it up with a piece of styrofoam this weekend and see what I think.

Sounds interesting. Do you have a sketch of what you have in mind?

I did mock up a rear deck spoiler in the location I want. It Drew attention and was liked with comments as to it's size and angle. Now I have to go to a used car dealer with a Volkswagen Beetle's and lean on it's spoiler to see how strong it is and measure it to the mock up. If the Volkswagen one can be modified it would save some fabrication time.

Sounds kinda cool .. a mock up and sharing of a photo would be proper .
Soon as I move the photos to drop box or some where I'll link them. The Volkswagen rear wing is only $60 dollars. I might have to go that way.

Styrofoam Mocked up then painted black. This is the location I want, final size still should be smaller. I believe the smaller it is the more it could look like something that could have been factory. The VW Beetle has this wing location nailed and is what I am after.
But this is close....

Tail gate parties. Comes in handy as a serving tray too. Not sure how you plan to affix that to. Looks good on the Beetles, cause of the curved rear hatch.

I like yours. It is thicker than what I would attempt to modify. This more straight one was the motivator. I'll keep pecking at the idea until it just falls in place one day.

As this is the photo shop of my idea.

Wow, now that I look at the photo shop pic, your wing is very close.
You are still right as far as mounting it but time and effort will make a way.

Jetfuel...great ideas are made to be stolen...unless they're patented....

The photo shop one was from a Porsche whale tail hence the vent ridges on top. It just has to look as if it could have sat on a showroom floor with that wing in place to be a true success. I like the visual change of the profile the wing and the rear roof antenna give it.

Now if you really have some creative ability in you, make one that also doubles as a bumper guard. It could either fold down (complicated) or bolt and unbolt in either place. Wing position when driving bumper guard when parked.

Now get to work before some one with means has it on Amazon for sale by cyber Monday lol.
...well thanks for the blessing on copying your vision...
...this will be a "one of" piece...as all the mods in my cars are...
...I think it will be a cool addition to the front spoiler, side skirts are rear spoiler...
...and like all magician's tricks....for me to make and for you guys to figure it out...

Jetfuel... plenty up my sleeve...
If I like it you'll sell me one at cost.... Or my portable reciprocating saw will get you in the Shoprite parking lot. Lol. I'm shooting for my personal one to be $15.00 cost. Two L brackets through the tailgate from the inside out then bolt the modified (just to remove the severe inner curve) VW wing onto them is a inexpensive minimum body alteration method. I can't damage the tail gate unless I'm 99 percent sure I've got the wing right though. And my time frame is Spring weather.

But for price that would actually be the right one to go with in the mid tailgate area I want. Its either or for me, I think a roof and mid wing would be too much, A small lip on the roof maybe but I will have a roof mounted antenna to further draw the eyes attention. Thanks for this though its a very fast way to get to where I want to be.
Ok Mr Mercedes, your suggestion is the one that I will use. Jetfuel, this is what I intend.

This is a Photo shop image of what I fully intend to create for my Smart. twcom.

...sorry Harlem...but that's not the whale tail I envisioned...in my head it does not go up like that...the shape should be somewhere between the upper foil and the lower foil...the one right above the plate....

Jetfuel...prototype by tomorrow.....I'm off all week
Cool, Can't wait to see it.
I ordered a rear deck lid today. So in a week or two I should have something figured out.
