Has anyone tried removing the big, thick, styrofoam insert that covers the 12V battery, in the passenger foot well? I just got myself setup with a spare tire and jack setup, and no longer need the fix-a-flat kit that is in that styrofoam. So, I would just need something to cover and protect the battery.

Would be nice to have something that didn't take up so much leg room. My 15 year old son is 6'0" and still growing, and he rides with me a lot, after I pick him up from practice.

Thoughts?

That Styrofoam piece supports the passenger's feet. Even if you don't need the whole kit, you still need something to hold up the carpet.... :)

I would recommend just leaving it in place. My car is missing that piece and I wish whomever had removed it hadn't, but you could just take it out and set it aside.
