I just purchased a new phone cradle that will accommodate my iPhone 7 Plus (the factory installed phone cradle only holds a standard size phone). I want to remove the old one, but I don’t know where start. I’ve attached a photo....is that the screw (closest to the stereo) that I unscrew? I tried unscrewing counterclockwise, but it wouldn’t move. I stopped because I didn’t want to damage my stereo. HELP?

No screw to remove. There is a ribbed “collar” just behind the cradle that has to turn slightly counter-clockwise to unlock the cradle. Then the cradle can be pulled outward from the radio. Because the parts are plastic they tend to stick and bind making unlocking all but impossible by hand. I have a set of channelock pliers that have plastic covers on the jaws. I used those to unlock the cradle without damaging the plastic collar. The collar only turns a bit to unlock the cradle - forgot how much, maybe 1/4 turn.

Thank You. I’ll look for some pliers like that and see if I can get it off that way.

Well, I finally figured out how to remove the factory phone cradle and installed my new phone cradle that fits my iPhone 7 Plus! And for $24.95....it’s a pretty good deal. There are a couple drawbacks (cradle is not as sturdy & it seems like it’s not “locked” in as well as factory one), but other then that it’s great! On the positive, this one is way easier to remove, lock nut is made of metal and it comes with two types of “shorty” USB cables so it can be plugged into the USB plug-in hidden behind the phone cradle.

I got it online at CarLab. It was $24.95. It takes a couple weeks to get though.
Your Iphone is 6.23" tall yet on carlab website it hints in the photo that it only goes to 5.9" tall. Odd.

How much more room does the cradle have when you open it up before putting your phone in? Could a 6.87" tall phone fit?
I have a mate 20x is why I ask. Cheers @rjv4EVER
