Why do I get a bad feeling that in your case given the type of phone you have that this is a bad idea. $100 for a proper scan tool is not expensive considering the first time you have a dealer read a code for something silly like leaving the gas cap off you will pay close to that amount.

The one I own was fairly expensive up here even on a $100 off sale but worth it for me since I use it on a number of different vehicles that we own.

The problem I suspect you will encounter is that your phone has an OS that is not supported since it's Nokia Windows and the bulk of the apps appear to be Android. Plus I thought that the OBD port on our smarts was live even with key off/out no not sure how much of a parasitic draw on the battery will exist.
