I just got a letter from MB stating certain MY2016 smart Fortwo "the horizontal adjustment mechanism on these vehicles may not have been properly sealed off to prevent future adjustment. If the headlight can be adjusted horizontally, the headlight me be adjusted outside of the designed specifications, and potentially reduce the driver's visibility of the roadway and increase the glare to oncoming traffic, increasing the risk of a crash".

Has anybody else gotten these letters?

Yep! It's for the 453s. Basically, it was found that the mechanism to horizontally adjust the headlights wasn't sealed off correctly (I assume the DOT doesn't want us to have that feature), thus allowing you the forbidden fruit of being able to make horizontal adjustments to the headlight.

Got the very same letter about my 453 today. Does not seem like a big deal. Headlight aim is fine after 15 months, as is everything else.
It's not anything about the headlight adjustment being out of whack. It's that i'm pretty sure horizontal adjustment of headlights is not allowed (at least in the US)... hence the recall due to the horizontal adjustment being possible.

Got that letter yesterday, I have 2 2016 smarts, only 1 letter. Need to check the VINs so I know which one has the recall. My understanding is they won't make any changes unless the lights are out of tolerance.
