There has been a lot of discussion over the years about finding a diagnostic tool that will read and reset trouble codes for our EV's. There was a post today on the Smart Car European Facebook forum about this unit that allowed the owner to reset the "HV System - Workshop" message that appears when the 12v battery dies. I think he was also able to reset others codes too. Sounds like a reasonably priced unit if it works as it states. Anyone here have one and if so, can you let us know your experience?

Thanks.

Len, thanks for sharing!

Appears to be a respected group of individuals who have the support of many difficult marquees!

If this will reset the dreaded "HV System - Workshop" and other 451 ED software "gotchas," it could be well worth the cost. To bring an ED back to life for $2-300 would be a bargain and they do appear to offer return/refund.

Could be of benefit to ICE owners too, an affordable answer to M-B Star Diagnostics tool?

I have to look into it further, but it appears that it can also reset the maintenance reminder. That in itself will save some owners a month or two of their time. :)

So do any members here own one of these units?

Kicking myself for buying the Mercedes/Smart/Sprinter extension @ $60 from Foxwell, last month I had also invested in an Autel MaxiTPMS ITS600.

Trying...
my best...
not to pull out the CC!....

Got an extremely quick answer, 199.00 EUR ("as of now") for updates beyond the 1 yr mark. But also quickly noted it still works just can't update functionality.

Well, if you do buy one, let us know how it works. But you don't have a Smart EV anymore, do you? I seem to see on their webpage that they were giving 20% off the list price with free delivery to the US.

Haha. Yes it's true didn't ever have an ED. May have ED, but not the smart kind.

And it's super discounted because we have multiple brands in the household the EXPERT one is 58% off. (Oops, that 199 EUR upgrade price is for that model). Would have to go hunting for dead EDs around me AND advertise free help. Plus free shipping. Oh.

(Refilling the ink in the printer even though it's not even close to time).....

Let you know of course.

Very interesting. As an owner of a "bricked" 451 ED that has not been diagnosed yet I'll be watching this thread for more information.
Well, I just pulled the trigger and purchased the "Pro" version for $157.50 + 38.85 for shipping for a total of $196.35. I don't know if it will help me fix my "bricked" 451 ED but I figure it's worth a shot.

I sent them a question over one week ago, regarding the possibility of expanding vehicle brand and model coverage for other vehicles in the household. Sadly I have not gotten a response in over a week now as I waited patiently. Maybe that's why they have them on sale? They don't sound like they are planning on any further development I guess....

I was surprised last night to receive an email response. Maybe they didn't take my question seriously until I posted they didn't respond? Turns out the '13 Porsche Panamera and '04 Toyota Sienna are on their list of supported vehicles so I am told. The three other US models (in our household) unlikely in the near future:

'10 Cadillac CTS-V
'12 Toyota Prius v
'18 Honda Clarity PHEV

I interpret the answer as specific to the requested models, meaning there are likely other US models not listed but are covered. Best ask prior to buying...

As mentioned already in the other thread. Most easy and helpful for most tasks ar the Autel MaxAP200 with the bluetooth dongle. If you know the unit which gives you the failures i can help you to clear the failures even with a easy elm327 for a few bucks. It is really easy if you know how to. If there is a android app programmer out there we could get a small app where you could delete the easy 12V battery hv shop message but for P18051C you need more voodoo.
Never the less most easy and direct usage is MaxAP200 for a few dollars. After you know more what is going on in your car.

Hi.

I have an ELM327 but I don't know which code reader app to use to read the code. Torque is the only one I am familiar with and it doesn't pull up the car. Unless... The ELM327 I have is not compatible with the car.

Besides the error, my car drives and charges and otherwise behaves normally.

Problem is not the Elm, it is the app as they are always try to scan for the units the need for the classical ice power train.
If you take a look on the programming of the elm or the deep level command you could just use a bluetooth terminal software and send the command line to fix the failure entry no problem. It depends which ecu your failure is located.
