seat belt question

2081 Views 13 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  jimvw57
I am doing Uber eats to make extra cash for 2 front rims and 195 tires. I drive and my wife takes the food up to the door.
Her seat belt hangs in the door and she can't remember to check it and the door jamb is getting dented all over the place. I am wondering what luck has been had in cutting the part that is over the seat belt and kinda looks like an anchor. It appears the belt curls up on each side and the distorts the belt causing it to drag on the overhead thingy.

or any other ideas

thanks guys

I used some Gorilla tape over the center slit and it lets the belt slide easier, or replace the seatback loop with the newer style one.
The loop on the upper backrest was changed to a more rounder shape than the 2008-2009 ones. Newest smart I ever got is a 2009 and they are the same as the 2008. The newer style is supposed to allow the belt to slide more smoothly and retract better I am sure someone on here has replaced the old style with the newer one and can report on replacing them.

according to the parts guide, 2008 pass seatbelt loop part number is 451-860-00-22 and the 2013 part number is 451-860-05-22. same price on both parts.
OP was having issues with the passenger side belt which is why I listed the number for the passenger side part.

Kane sez,

A 451 860 04 22
A 451 860 05 22

This will give you 1 left and 1 right seat belt guide in the new design.

use a screwdriver on the lower side of the clip in the seat and pop the tab out per Evilution website, Nice write up with pictures (last link)
