Hi everyone! Sadly, my little Smartie and I were in an accident yesterday and we only had liability insurance on it. It is drivable but the seatbelts no longer retract and the AC doesnt work and my husband is unwilling to spend any money on it. We just spent over $1000 on it several months ago for new tires and alignment etc so I figure we could at least sell the tires and rims, but anybody have any idea the best way to sell a Smart car for parts? It is a 2010 Smart. Thank you! I'm really going to miss our Smartie-it was the perfect surf mobile for places with parking issues so if you also know any way to home fix the seat belts I'm all ears!

Where are you? City/State/ZIP? That info will enable people to know if they can help.
I'd suggest selling the car to one person. If you take off parts, you're left with an immobile problem.

Good luck and Cheers, Bob

Why don’t you just have the front bumper replace? It might not look pretty sometimes, you can push out the damage on a plastic bumper. You got nothing to loose. Since you have $1K tied up in it, give it a try.

is the car, still drivable? Sell it on Craigslist, eBay, etc. there’s no need to part out a drivable car.

I think the highlighted part below in the OP'S original post is the problem.

I would agree 100%. While I'm sure you're disappointed that your Smart Car was in an accident there's no need to part it out based on what I can see.

If I can ask, where is the car located, how many miles are on it and how much do you want for it? I'm in Phoenix, AZ and wouldn't mind having another Smart Car in my fleet. :)

I also agree that parting it out is a drastic measure. Use a hair dryer to heat up that bumper then punch it back out with your hand.

It sounds like the pyrotechnics in your seatbelts blew in the crash and need replacing. I'd list it for something like $1,500 (?) and see who bites.

Thank you everyone! It has about 119K on it and the interior is a bit dirty at the moment but nothing too bad. There is some broken plastic under the hood-the driver side headlight just comes right out when you pop the hood and some sort of plastic pan fell off the bottom of the car which my husband said he could probably fix but the seatbelts and AC are the biggie for him since he can't fix that himself.

Hi! We are in San Diego, so not too too far from you. I'm not sure how this works but can you private message me? I'd love to not part her out!
