I realize there's a couple threads that discuss the oil changes but I wanted to create a single spot for just "how-to" oil change information. I have the approved dealer list of oils as well as the step-by-step instructions from the service manual. I had to scan them and the font was really small so I need to park the full size images somewhere so I can link to them here and so you can download them if you want them. I've asked "SMART" (the admin) if he has a place (they're too big for my Gallery). As soon as that gets sorted out, you'll all have the oil change details here to refer to.
I also created a video of the process which, once I edit it, I'll place here too.

Approved Oil List

Ok ... here's the list Udo gave me from Smart Center San Diego.
These are the approved engine oils (marked with an "X") - you'll notice there are several weights listed, the most recommended probably depends on your climate. Here in San Diego, I was told to use the Mobil-1 0W40 full synthetic.
Now I have to apologize for the image ... I didn't feel much like retyping this info and the font was way-small so you may need to save the image and zoom in on it to see it.

Step-by-step oil change instructions Page 1

Here are the instructions from the dealer's service computer for changing the oil

Again - the font was tiny so to see it, we had to post a full-size image. Save it to your computer and it may be easier to read.

Picked up a filter at Smart of Cherry Hill nj,yesterday($13.65)a Mitsubishi filter with a Smart sticker on it,also asked for a drain plug gasket, and was told it wasn't listed on their computer.I was told you can use the gasket twice or suck the oil out, don't think so!
