Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. Please help me if you can, I'm getting very desperate and starting to panic. I'm not a mechanic but don't have the budget for the dealer right now (it would take me a long time to save up for repairs through them). I have a 2011 U.S. 451 (gasoline), out of warranty.

I changed the clutch using Evilutions information and a video from youtube on the subject. I made sure everything was in the right orientation and all the connectors cleaned/reinserted. I have an mb star clone and went through the procedures for adjusting the clutch actuator/transmission. Xentry scanned P1A10 (parking pawl faulty). It would not erase but keep in mind that everything was working correctly before the clutch change.

The car only allows the key to turn to position 1 and displays gear 1 on the speedo. It will not let me move the gear selector lever to the other positions. It stays in the park position but it will allow me to wiggle it a small amount. When it wiggles it will shift to neutral briefly, then back to 1st. During the brief neutral period, I can turn the key to position 2 and the car will start but remain in neutral. Even started it will not allow gear selector lever movement.

Please, please, PLEASE help me! If you require monetary compensation for information that would resolve my issue, then we can arrange something through paypal.

I saw the actuator move when Xentry adjusted it and heard the transmission move with its calibration too. I asked the guys at Evilution but they're unfamiliar with U.S. parking pawl. They suggested that the code given may need to be resolved (P1A10: parking pawl button faulty). I tried lifting the yellow tab underneath the lever casing along with lubricating the lever itself. It just won't budge. I'll keep searching for solutions. Thanks everyone and please keep the suggestions coming.

Edit: I made a short video of the issue to better explain the situation: https://youtu.be/4a40gdHZbeQ

Might want to remove the shift knob & squirt a little WD40 down the shaft. Looks like your transmission is out of sync with your shifter so you may want to go back over the connectors & relearn the transmission once you figure out how to get the shifter to move.

The brake lights work but next weekend (I work all week) I will verify the switch and attempt all other suggestions. Thanks again, any and all ideas are welcome.

Edit: I tried the transmission reteach again and after the procedure the car will almost ignite normally. A second after normal ignition the speedo displays 1st gear and turns the car off. Smart Bob suggested that the shifter was out of sync with the transmission. How can I solve this? I'm not familiar with Das/Xentry, I'm basically going through the options in it. Can it be done through Das/Xentry or directly through the car pedals/knobs? If not then I'll have to search information on the shifter.

Just curious...do you know if your smart has the latest software? Unfortunately only dealer can do this. I have 2008 Smart and had issues shifting/gear selection etc, not as severe as your case. (And no clutch work done) The dealer charged $175 to update software and that fixed my problem...just a thought

Thanks to everyone for all the help! I found a youtube video that showcased the inner workings of the shifter module. I opened that up and made sure everything was aligned properly. After I understood how it worked, I decided to verify the parking cable. That's when I noticed that even though I had screwed it tight, it was not aligned properly. You notice that the thread on the cable is rectangular and that when properly inserted will move in forwards/backwards "clicks" to denote the park shift. If it does not click and is "springy" then the cable is inserted improperly. I was the architect of my own demise. Good luck to all the diy enthusiasts!

Do you mind linking the video. I'd like to watch out in case in the future something happens
