My route two years ago was stay the night in Front Royal,

Unfortunately, the wife and I won’t be free till the afternoon on Sat , I inadvertently committed to the drive thinking we both were free that day , which isn’t the case . I’m sorry we won’t be able to attend ? .. the weather looks great and the leaves should be in good color .. next year folks . Enjoy !!!
I lied . . . in a previous post saying we would be at the Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We are here, at the Royal Inn on the south end of town, near the Park entrance. Not sure we want to battle the traffic tomorrow morning to get up to the Cracker Barrel and back down again. I will PM my phone number to WMEEK so we can stay in touch tomorrow morn - or tonight.
After a nice Breakfast and get acquainted chat at Cracker Barrel a drive through lovely town with fantastic stone work homes and a quick hotel check out. While dusting off the Smart I met a Man named Frank who was so in-like with the Smart that our ten minute conversation which blurred all two men could ever talk to each other about, we shook hands and were friends. The life of a Smart owner..... So we entered the park, the line seemed long but if it took 5 minutes to pay the fee and enter I would be surprised. As the lead driver was very familiar with the drive, It was a beautiful scenic drive as we both had the classical music playing it was spectacularly peaceful. Oh we turned the wick up on a couple of curvy parts of the road but obeyed the 35 mph limit most of the time. Even saw Deer as reminder that getting home safe was the true goal. The drive and views were worth everything to soak in.
We drove outside the park to the LOG Cabin Barbecue. after more good conversation, Ribs, BBQ pork, BBQ beef, mac and cheese, string beans, a roll and one hot dog chased down by a sweet tea..... Ahhhhhhhhh.... later it was time for us to take our memories of the day home.
I headed over to Interstate 81 north and a radio station change of tempo and boy did I put the Smack down on that run to Lorton Va....lol ...... Drive Safe, Drive Smart.
Maybe Saturday, November 2 will be the date next fall I would recommend. The middle of October was not peak for the fall foliage in 2018. I will plan again for Nov 2, same bat time, same bat channel. Mother Nature should be wearing her prettiest gown by then.
Invite is for all smart cars & a driver with or without a copilot as per past foliage rides.
