i have a 2009 smart car with about 83k miles. the a/c compressor has been cycling on and off, anybody had any issues with their a/c compressors? is it something I can replace or do I need the dealer to do it?

Check to see if the radiator fan is running with the AC on...

Known issue, bad fan motor...

45 Years ago I'd think nothing of removing and rebuilding engines, gearboxes and diffs. Now I'm an old git without the eyesight, dexterity or flexibility to do much on a car beyond simple tasks.

Mine cycles quite fast also I think it’s normal for these little cars I’ve put gauges on mine pressure is normal I’ve even pulled a vacuum on the system filled it to it’s proper amount of refrigerant and it still cycles fast. I’m sure it’s the temp sensor by the passengers left foot that controls when the compressor kicks on and off so maybe start there and see if it’s clean and the connection is seated good
