I bought this Smart car used. It was in an accident and needed some work. Now it at least runs, brand new battery. There are still a few bugs. I'm thinking it's the Alternator considering it seems to draw power whenever any extra electricity is being used(wipers, lights, etc.) Now I have a new issue. I can't seem to get the key to work. Any suggestions?

Since everything is electrical, including the switch, which gives the computer a signal to start the car (not the starter) I would suspect a low battery, or a bad ground. If the alternator is acting up, it could be draining the battery.

I did take the battery out, and have it charging over night. The battery is fully charged. I will take a look at the ground wire, and alternator. Thanks!
