Hello! I am located in Las Vegas Nevada. My original car service place stopped servicing Smart Cars. I was wondering if there was any place where I live, that services smart cars and actually know what they are doing. Any suggestions?

Welcome to SCoA Forum
'actually know what they are doing.' Hmmm
I'm also in Las Vegas.
As far as I know Fletcher Jones Mercedes-Benz on Sahara still works on smarts. But $$$$
I have not found anyone else in the valley who wants to work on smarts or that I trust, at least on the westside.
I end up doing the simple stuff my self.

Las Vegas is a large city. Look for a shop, that specialize in foreign cars. The smart car isn’t exotic, parts are still available. Can be ordered, from MB. Basic Maintenance can be preform by any good shop. My car here, hasn’t seen a MB dealership, in 9 years. Found a good independent one for service.

Search the internet, in your city. Good Luck

I’ve been going to Fletcher Jones for services. I know it cost a lot of money, but at least they knew about how to service a smart car. My car gives me a notification for yearly services and that’s why I need somebody that knows how to do the computer part of the smart car.

Has Fletcher Jones stopped working on smarts?

Thank You for that information, I had no idea.
Their "smart" mechanic probably left.
Well that's one less Authorized smart service center nationwide. I wonder if you can still order parts?
Looks like the closest smart Authorized service center is in California.

Well that’s horrible because I have an electric smart car that can only go 60 miles on one charge. It can’t even make it to state line and back. 🙄 but there’s nobody that you know of?

Kelsey - just noted that you have an electric. They are incredibly easy to maintain. The two things that need attention are the desiccant filter every two years and maybe the cabin air filter. Both of them are super easy to DIY. We can guide you through if need be, but there is lots of info in the forum. Most everything else is check this or inspect that. I posted stickys at the top of the electric car forum that detail what needs to be done at service time.. You should also do future posts in the electric car forum.

Sorry, but I do my own oil changes w/ filter, air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs and coils.
I did my own repair to the engine insulation mat. Looking to do my evaporation canister soon. I topped off too many times.
I contacted a few Mercedes repair shops a year ago or so and they were uninterested in working on a smart.

Yep and I am that person. I rather pay somebody to do it so that I don’t mess things up more because I don’t know what I’m doing. Hence why I’m here looking for a mechanic. 🙃
I don't do oil changes or brakes or anything else on my Buick or my wife's Ford too many
dealers around to mess with it and their prices aren't too bad. They always have specials going on.
The smart is another matter. The lack of good mechanics here and/or their prices (MB) forced me into doing my own smart maintenance.

Today at 3PM I called the three that are displayed first two 'Sorry we don't work on smart cars.'
European Motor Cars said 'Yes I think we can work on smart cars...who makes them.'
Didn't even broch the subject of a electric smart.

I've lived Vegas for almost 30 years.
The auto repair business is pretty much fly-by-night here.

Yep. The repair shops suck here in Vegas for Smart Cars because literally nobody knows about them. The last time I went to a mechanic for my first Smart Car (which wasn’t electric), but that’s besides the point because they came up to me and asked me open the hood because they didn’t know how to…

Kelsey, I guess it’s time to roll up you sleeves, and learn to do the basic maintenance work. I taught my daughter how to change the oil, replace the light bulbs (she’s got small hands). She has troubles with the air cleaner. The cabin filter is easy for her too. Next I’ll teach her how to do a brake job. It’s the same as any car. She even leaned how to patch a tire. A smart car is pretty easy to do basic maintenance on. There are plenty You Tube videos on DIY.

For major stuff, a couple day vacation to LA.

I have an electric smart car. It doesn’t take oil and the repairs that I need is usually an update to the car computer. Also, my car goes 60 miles on one charge. I can’t even go state line and back.

What year is your car? There probably are no computer updates needed for your car. If you are talking about resetting the dash maintenance indicator, that's something you can easily do yourself.
