Good Vibrations

At the risk of taking us back on topic :)

I picked up my Passion today at Smart Center of Buckhead and had a singularly pleasant experience. The staff (Emily and Loni) were wonderful explaining everything and keeping things moving along, and Eric was quick and efficient at working through the financing. They were very busy delivering 14 cars today, but I never felt rushed or abandoned.

Well done all. I would not hesitate to recommend this dealership based on my experiences.

jlfinkels,

Thanks for the report. I visited for the first time on Thursday, and they were very nice, though it was busy then, too. I took lots of pictures, basically playing tourist.

We are lucky to have such a great dealership in Atlanta.

Enjoy the Passion!

Jeff

I took my car in last week to get the wiper looked at (it was hitting the side of the car when it was on high). They took the car right in, fixed it, washed and vacuumed it, and even plugged a tire where i had a nail in it! all in about an hour. Great Service!

* I'm especially excited about the wash. with the extreme drought and water restrictions it had gotten quite dirty. Now if only I could come up with something to fix every few weeks so I can keep it looking so great!

I am hearing the wiper on the right hitting something too. :(
Was it a quick fix I can make myself? The Atlanta dealer is 2.5 hours away from me, and I would rather not have to make an expensive drive.

it was a quick adjustment by the service technician. I didn't ask what they did, but they may be able to talk you through it. I was worried about it damaging the paint when it hit. The whole process took about an hour, but they also washed the car and plugged a tire.

Alright, I just back on the orphan list, for a Cabrio. I got my orphan in March, but it doesn't have everything I want. I'll be getting the Kuhl Kit with this one.
My question is, how much are they running for?

I'm trying to get a black Cab, and get a blue kit installed. It will look sweet, at least it does in my mind.

Does the Atlanta Smart dealer see many orphans? What is the wait time for one? I reserved my car several months ago but still do not show a DDE. I am about an hour outside of Atlanta.

Yes the Smartcenterofbuckhead from my experience has recieved more Smarts and can locate orphans faster than most dealers on the south east region. If you are not on the list I reccomend get on the orphan list and ask for Emily. She will take good care of you. I wish I could quote you a time frame but I can assure you that you have a greater chance to recieve a orphan faster than if you just recently reserved one.
To improve your chances I would be flexible with your color and options you will accept as well as trim level.
I was flexible and was very satisfied on how fast I recieved my Smart. :)

Just be ready for the options added. I have been offered several orphans from them , but decided to come off their list due to the add ons and not wanting to pay an additional $5000 to $7500 in options that I could not afford nor wanted. I told them several times that I would take a stereo upgrade and mats, but did not want $5000 worth of wheels, but every time they called they were loaded up.

Good luck, they are great to work with. It just did not work for me. Mine should come in in the next 90 days now. I Hope!!

I had a great experience on July 5th driving (and falling) for what will someday be my SMART Cabrio. I was intent on a Passion Hardtop - but after a top down jaunt through Garden Hills - I was sold. Of course in 18 months - will I still want the thing?

I am a little confused on the orphan list - which I am definitely open to. Am I automatically contacted, or do I actuallyhave to "sign up?"

Make friend with the any of the sale associates(Loni, Victoria....). Talk to them about what you want on the orphan car PLUS what kind of add on that you can tolerate. (there WILL be some sort of Add-On!!!) Let them know how bad you need one or when you are ready to do it. Bascially, you are asking a favor from them. They handle large amount of business. There are many people there simply drop big money way above MSRP to get the car. Afterall, they are located at the fashionable Buckhead area of Atlanta....
Hope you get your smart soon. If you enjoy driving, you will love Smart Not just for the MPG stuff that everyone seems to concentrate.

I just called the dealership again. I am on one orphan list but I don't even remember the name of the salesperson that I spoke to when I called several weeks ago. This time I got on the list with Alisa (sp?) and told her I am open to ANY style or options. Hopefully, that will speed up the process of getting one.

I signed up on the reservation system over 4 months ago and still do not have a DDE. I guess it is still more than 18 months out.

Buckhead Orphans - 10-12 per month

I am a Buckhead orphan adopter. My call came 1 week after getting on the list. I told them I'd take anything that came in, so long as it had a/c. Got a Passion with about 4k in add-ons. Loni is the "orphan specialist". She's also the customer satisfaction rep, so she deals with complaints. She told me they get about 10-12 orphans per month, plus they sell their demonstraters at what sounded like a reasonable mileage. The usual add-ons are LoJack (1200); rims (2k - which seems kind of high); window tint (a must in the deep south); and a protective coating inside and out. I couldn't be more pleased. I'll make up the markup during the 18-mo waiting period (I traded a 10 mpg suv). Good luck!
