it has to be done by your dealership BUT! they dont know how the only ones who knows how to do it are the UK dealers

basically, the seller has to get into Xentry and get your VVC from your VIN, then he has to register your VVC on Mercedes.me then he has to register your car on Smart Support AND! finally it will appear a phone number in the car, you call to that number and then smart support activate the app.

BE AWARE!

that there are 3 apps, the 451 (already gone), 453 (up and running but no one has info about it) and EQ only available in Germany.

I tried registering on Mercedes.me and I even went to the nearest Mercedes dealer where he attempted to register me on Mercedes.me but failed. (He said I couldn't use Mercedes.me Connect because my car didn't have telephone services like an onstar button or whatever, and therefore couldn't be registered.)

I went home and downloaded the Smart EQ Control App (very difficult to do not actually being in the UK!). I can't seem to get it to work. Should I try another dealer and show them the Smart app? Should I call a dealer in England and attempt to get it verified that way? What do you suggest? Have you gotten it working from America before?

MB USA Does not have the best I.T. techs working. Even with our Mercedes-Benz customers, it is a hit or miss affair. And they keep having issues with it still, they have to pull it down for a week at a time :-(

But, I can help... Call this #: 888.628.7232 (Mercedes Me Help Line). I speak with Tasheena when I call.

But, it does have to be initiated at a Mercedes dealer. FYI it only works with 2019 & 2020 models for MB, I am sure it is the same with Smart. Have the 2019 Smarts even hit the streets yet?

A quick call to these guys, will at least get you to a final conclusion!

If they say its possible with your car, I can probably complete the process for you here...

Wow! Thanks for such a helpful response!

I’m up to this page in the smart app:

If there’s anything you can do to help me get my car added that’d be awesome. Mine is a 2018.

I can try to give them a call tomorrow too.
