My folks live on the side of a hill outside of Portland, Oregon, 150' above the road, with a gravel driveway about 0.15 miles long, which makes it an average 18% grade. Last winter, with just a few inches of snow on the ground and before I had the opportunity to put chains on, I slid backward 50' attempting to drive up the first switchback in a 4WD Ford Explorer, so yes, it's steep. We've had a bit of rain the past few weeks, so it's also a bit rutted.

I made this video on Mardi Gras, just to show off to someone the smart's ability to climb a rugged path up a hill, and thought others might enjoy it.
