In most part of my Smart (Roadster) interior, such as dashboard and door panels which are plastic, need to re paint, I would like to paint them in other colour not a stupid factory one! Any one know how we can paint those plastic part! Also what colour do you suggest? In my side I think we must use plastic primer first then plastic paint ,but I can find plastic primer with no colour!!! They all have some colour in plastic primer. If for example I want to paint them in silver do I need to get plastic primer only with no colour or I can get plastic primer in any colour or must be silver. If anyone paint smart interior please share a pic so we can see how good these smarts interior looks like. Many thanks

I tend to believe that painting plastic interior panels looks corny, looks tacky, etc,. I recommend you find a professional customization shop to look at their work, and perhaps let them customize your interior. You have a rare vehicle and might not have enough spare parts to experiment with first time plastic painting.

There are rattle can paints that are designed for plastic, even automotive interiors. In my youth I experimented with them. I have long ditched those efforts though, because my conclusion is that the interior looks "corny, tacky, etc,." Just a little warning before you do something you can't easily reverse.

Prepare, keep asking questions. Can't do anything but help you ahead of time...

They’re in London where roadies and 450s are everywhere, plus decent replacement parts availability.

But yeah, my advice will echo the good Mister_smart_LA, sorta. :)

If you want to paint your interior panels, I’d paint them with Plasti-Dip. If done well the finish will last an incredible amount of time. It’ll also protect the original parts without damaging them as well. Plus if you stop liking it, just peel it off!

Jetfuel did the inside trim in his Turbo Brabus. He used a dye to stain the panels instead if paint. They looked awesome and you could not tell them from factory. He dyed them from factory grey to black. I'm sure you could PM him and he would tell you the name of the stain and where he got it. DCO

Cool, glad we have you here. What would you suggest for door panels? And how we can cover them with glue or stitching? I found some good leather quality and I was thinking to do the door panel and dashboard!? Cheers
