This time can you please include details about the 2009 model?

When will the change be made from 2008 to 2009 model year?

What will be the new exterior and interior colors?

Will leather still be only available in black?

Will there be any new options?

Will you offer cruise control?

Will there be a price increase?

So many questions and so few answers. (Like always!)

Also can you confirm the reasons why the DDE varies so widely from person to person and even from time to time for the same person?

And can you tell us why people in the same zip code and around the same reservation date can have such a wide variation in delivery date?

As always any information is greatly appreciated by all!

SPDY,
smart USA is about to begin a beta test on their own smart forum. I suspect the next newsletter will be used to announce and promote that site.

While I can assure you I will continue to concentrate my attention on SCOA the new forum might be a worthwhile place to communicate directly with smart and to ask specific questions of smart USA.

smarts history of poor communication does not provide me with great expectations but I'll give them a chance to see if it improves our ability to communicate with them and their willingness to be more open with all of us.

I provided them with my opinion that they should become active here rather than creating a new site but they apparently have their reasons. We'll see what happens.

Smart sells every car they produce, expeditiously. They don't have to advertise. We do it for them. So far their communication strategy seems to be working. All us wonks can't stop talking about them, either for or against, all exposure is good, free exposure for them. Wanna attract a crowd? Park your smart car ANYWHERE. That's communication.

Smart USA is launching an owners site soon and the purpose is to support owners and local clubs. I have seen a preview and the new site looks very attractive. 3rd party sites like SCOA will continue to serve a purpose as being independent. Smart USA does not want to control the content tightly but is open to a free exchange of information although I doubt obvious mis-information and screeds will be tolerated.
