Yet another Ignoramus!

Here's a nasty little staffers' opinions piece from the folks at Automobilemag.com (apologies if this has already been posted) http://tinyurl.com/3cgfte
Shanna,
These types are as innocuous as some of the talk show hosts you see and hear on the radio and TV (won't mention any names). They blurt out stupid statements as if they are all knowing experts in every field. This guy probably owns an H3 and has an ego way larger than his IQ.

Referring to some posts yesterday about running into some opposition, this guy's type of representation will give you an idea of some of the kind of nonsense we new owners will face once we hit the streets in our Smarts.

I AM PREPARED!!! :D :D

you are right, jonnysan. I remember all the naysayers when I bought my first gen Prius in 2001. These fools are probably the same short-sighted critics that said the Prius was a fad. I'd like to think small-mindedness is a fad--sadly, it's not...

It's obvious that they have an "axe" to grind with PAG, a Michigan neighbor of theirs. PAG didn't kiss their butts with promotional goodies and certainly did not sign up for any ads in their effite rag, so they have nothing to lose being contrary.

WOW! what a colossal pack of twits. I actually read the whole thing and ended up having a sort of zen-like experience because of the consistent vapidity.. I mean... you'd think in a sack of garbage that big you might find at least ONE good donut or stick of gum or something but NO!

I need an aspirin.

If you look at all of this objectively, we are just as (wrongly or rightly) opinionated in our direction as they are in theirs. I mean, (450s aside) the most any of us can say about the car is that we drove it around the block under 40 mph.

But then I'm a typical 28 year old woman living in a loft who looks like a 55 year old guy raking leaves on his 1 acre suburban property who refuses to pay more than 99cents for a cup of coffee (sorry, Starbucks). I think Joe DeMatio is a bit off the mark regarding the target market.

In any event, it sounds like Sam Smith has a "teenie" problem requiring compensation. An LS7 in aSmart? I'm guessing, even with that power plant, the Smart won't be phallic enough for him.

wow ignorance abounds

"My gut reaction is that they'll sell well in L.A. and New York--they might even sell a few in Chicago--but 20,000 units seems like a tall order"......Um sorry but based on current reservation rated they could double it but cant due to production issues.

"The typical buyer of the Smart ForTwo in the United States will be a 28-year-old woman who is employed by a Web-services company or a marketing agency and who lives in a loft apartment or condo in one of the following four neighborhoods: Brooklyn's Williamsburg; Washington, D.C.'s Dupont Circle; Chicago's Lincoln Park; or San Francisco's SoMa."

Let me see on this last statement of "typical" 28 years old female marketing loft apartment dwelling Soma living person...Im 41 a male, sell cars and live in Green Bay, WI

I discontinued my "Automobile Ragazine" subscription years ago after I got tired of their utter arrogance and their inconsistent columns about the very same car, dependent on the author and/or his/her mood. Nice photography, but that's about all it had to offer.
I'm not really looking forward to the pans  or laurels :) that will be no doubt thrown at our smarties by the automotive press articles within the next few weeks or months. I think in many cases their minds are already made up. So is mine.
Smarties forever! :D :D

I agree fully. Autoweek is the only one I still get.
