Hi, the speaker in the driver's door cuts in and out. The radio and speakers are stock; what came with the car which is 2015 Passion.

I am using Anker SoundSync Drive Bluetooth 4.0 Car Receiver and Mpow Ground Loop Noise Isolator for Car Audio to play audio books from my iPhone 7 Plus. iOS 11.0.3 .

I just now wonder if the Bluetooth is causing the cut out. I'll do a little experimenting tomorrow and let you know if that is the cause.

Otherwise if it has something to do with the connections I'll need some advice if it is something I can look for or if it is something the dealer will need to look at.

If tapping on the grille does nothing, check the audio jack connection with your Bluetooth system.

For whatever reason, mine will only work on both speakers if I wet the Bluetooth receiver’s audio plug first. I assume either the jack got bigger, the plug got smaller, or both.

As a final test, just run it on the radio. If no issues are encountered then you know it’s the audio jack.

Hi Miss Mercedes, it is the Bluetooth system. Wiggling the audio jack causes it to cut in and out. I'll try your solution. :) Thanks!

You’re welcome! I guess lubricate the plug??? I have no idea what would be a good long term solution outside of finding a slightly bigger plug...somehow.

My 2012 smart drivers door speaker has been cutting in and out, thought it might be the speaker connection. Found out that it was the patch cable connection from the mobile phone to the AUX jack. The plug to the AUX jack must have been getting pulled just enough when the glove box door was closed. Now I can listen to Enya in full bliss - half bliss was not enough. I may spray some electronic cleaner in the AUX jack.

It is my estimation that the 3.5" and jack expand and contract at different rates. Over time this should mean that the hole will get bigger than the plug and thus have issues. Lubrication like grease, cleaner, or whatever will help bridge that gap. It's how I've been using the system for a year now. It's not ideal, but I haven't found a better solution short of changing the jack for a new one.

It's the cable from the radio to the glove box. The speaker works fine with the radio.
I ordered a cable from Germany (not available in US) Smart 451 cable connection port AUX USB ORIGINAL NEW NOS 4518200015. So now need to pull the radio and the existing plugin in the glove box. There are a few videos on YouTube showing how to pull the radio but not how to replace the plugin in the glove box. My configuration isn't quite like the videos but I think it's doable. I still hope to find a video here on SCOA!

The AUX 3.5 jack, which is ancient history. Poor Sound quality.
Has nothing to do with Bluetooth or USB. Blue tooth has nothing ‘to do with a speaker cutting out too. Sounds to me you, the speaker is going bad, or the speaker wiring connection has come loose. USB is you best connect, for any sound.

If you want to clean any modern sensitive electrical connect. You use this type of cleaner.

If I'm not mistaken you can pry the AUX/USB port away from the side of the glove box and then pull it out with the cables. Installing it is just the reverse - feed the cables into the opening and then press the new port into the opening until it snaps into place. Connect the new cables and you're good to go! :)

Thank you, John! Now that you've said it, it seems rather obvious! I just couldn't figure out how I was going to get my hand in that little hole in the front! LOL! 🙃

I was almost able to get the fascia off. Almost. And it was starting to bend at the last attachment point. So. I bought that cable and now won't be able to use it. The cable was EUR 49.90 ($57.82) and EUR 20.00 shipping from Germany.

I'll try to sell the cable on eBay unless someone on the Forum might like to buy it. $45.00. Genuine SMART part. I never even took it out of the bag.

Why not try it again? It seems like it's going to break, but if you really squeeze the two sides in toward the radio and pull they will come loose. The only thing holding the fascia at that point is the bottom tab - pull the fascia back away from the radio with some upward pressure also and the bottom tab should pop out. If it breaks I don't see any reason the two side tabs can't keep the fascia secure. Good luck! :)

Thanks, John, The sides came away cleanly. There are 3 connectors across the bottom below the drawer. The two side tabs came out with a little persuasion but the middle one just wouldn't pop loose. I pulled left and right. Tried prying with a popsicle stick. No joy. Then I got a little more aggressive and it started to bend and tear at the point of the middle connector.

It went back together all right and I pushed on the "bend and tear" with the popsicle stick and it really isn't noticeable unless, like me, you know it's there.

I've tried putting bulb grease in the AUX connector in the past. It helped a little but didn't last. There was never anything thin enough to put into the AUX port and be able to put the jack in.

I didn't mention it before but I did try to pry the AUX/USB port away from the side of the glove box but it was in there pretty solid. I'll bet there is a "snap" connector that has to be released from the inside.

I'm pretty used to the left speaker not working. 🙃
