Howdy y'all,
I'm fairly certain my cabrio doesn't have the tweeters/other fun prizes that come with the upgraded sound system. Would it be a waste of time/money to replace the stock door speakers without adding tweeters or a subwoofer? My main goal is to make sound from aux sources have clearer bass/vocals (mostly EDM and country music).
I've been looking at Polk DB-651 speakers so far.
Thanks :)

Welcome to the asylum or SCoA?

Crazy place and sometimes complete with Friday night funnies!

Maybe a little background on your cabrio? Model year, head unit with tuner only or?

Probably goes without saying that replacing the cheezie OEM door speakers would be a great start?

Door speaker replacement will definitely improve sound quality. Not sure on bass/highs, but any aftermarket speakers are better than the stock ones. As far as sub, I really miss my bass now that I’ve been driving my ED with 2 speaker system compared to my gas smart with surround sound and sub under seat. You could always add a small sub to the trunk or get a under seat or under dash sub.

Sorry for the delay, Y'all! I missed the update notifications. My cabrio is a 2008, but I'm not sure as to the rest of the information Y'all requested.. Apparently there are subs under my dash and seat, but according to further research I might need an Amp to boost the power to support new door speaker range. Do Y'all know if the head unit output power is a standard value or specific to each unit?

...get the speakers first...open the glove box and plug your phone to the mini jack located on the left side of the box....play it loud ...let's say Dwight Yoakam...Alan Jackson and the likes.....will talk later about the amp.....

Jetfuel....old country for me...

Update in case y'all were curious:
I went ahead and ordered some Infinity Primus PR6512is from all-powerful Crutchfield; hopefully those will solve my current problems without the need for an amp. Thanks for all your collective help :)
