Does anyone know if the speedo stores the mileage or if it's stored elsewhere ie Sam or the ecu. One of my buttons is not working and by the looks of it, I'll be replacing the whole darn thing.

Actually it's stored in both.

BUT, if you change out the speedo with another one with different mileage, the SAM will re-write itself to the mileage on the new speedo...

When the instrument cluster is replaced with a used unit the cluster and the SAM compare mileage. Whichever has the higher mileage stored is what is displayed on the odometer. If you get a used cluster get one with fewer miles than are currently on the vehicle. If the used cluster has a higher mileage reading then that is what your car will have from now on. No going back.

Leave it to my 5 year old to figure it out. Daddy why don't you turn the lights on. Turned them on and the dimmer button starts working. K I feel like such a idiot here.
